FEATURED BAND

MTB
MTB formed in early February, 2008 and although the band is relatively new on the Australian Blues/Rock scene, collectively MTB chalk up more than 120 years of Musical Experience. The guys are always hard at work, rehearsing original material as well as Blues standards and Classic Rock tunes, blending everything together to forge their own unique sound. Apart from playing in their hometown of Bendigo, MTB have also performed at Melbourne venues like MusicLand and the Noise Bar and were recently featured on Asylum TV. The biographies below will give some insight into what these three musicians contributed to the Australian Music Industry.

MARC LEON - Guitars and Vocals Marc Leon has been associated with many bands and artists who now form a part of Australian Music History. He has earned the respect of his peers as a musician who is not afraid to take on new challenges and constantly works on refining his skills as a composer and performer.

Marc began his musical career in 1960 as lead singer in local Rock & Roll bands. He taught himself how to play the guitar, started to write songs and by 1964, his band, The D-Men, was signed up by CBS to record three 45RPM singles, featuring four of Marc's songs. These records were successful in the Sydney charts and the group's popularity was further boosted with regular appearences on National TV, as well as tours with the Aztecs and the Easybeats.

By 1966, Marc's musical interests shifted towards Jazz, Blues and R&B (Soul). He was influenced by musicians such as Ray Charles, BB King, Wes Montgomery and the Soul artists who recorded for the "Stax" label. One of Marc's demo tapes caught the attention of EMI producer David Mackay, who produced two singles for Marc on HMV. These records received excellent reviews.

Marc had the opportunity to turn professional, when he moved to Melbourne in 1968 to join the Vibrants, a Rock band with three number one hit records. The band broke up six months later and Marc formed "Graduate" with two other Vibrants members, to play a diverse range of music, including Jazz, Blues, Latin and Rock. Graduate survived in various line-ups for 10 years. Often featuring a female singer out front, the band's extensive tour schedule included all Australian states, as well as six months in S.E. Asia.

Over the years, Marc has shared the stage with many International acts like The Kinks, Mungo Jerry, Bee Gees, Jose Feliciano, Fairport Convention, Burl Ives and Roberta Flack. Marc was also in demand as a studio session musician, as well as guitarist and musical director for a number of Australia's Top Celebrities, including John Farnham, Colleen Hewett, Normie Rowe and John St. Peters. He also taught guitar for many years in music schools and his home studio.
Some of Marc's songs have made it into the finals of the American Song Festival (1976) and the MBAS Blues Performer Of The Year contest (1995).

BARRY GRAY - Drums In a career that spans over more than thirty years, Barry has played drums in numerous bands and is experienced in a vast range of music genres, including Rock ‘n Roll, Blues, R & B, Classic Rock, Country, Country Rock, as well as Cabaret, Traditional Jazz and Old-Time Dance Band music.

Some of Barry’s career highlights include playing support gigs with well known Australian bands like the Mixtures, Billy Thorpe & the Aztecs and Paul Kelly & the Dots. He has performed on a state-wide tour of NSW, sponsored by *Jack Daniels*, for the T&I Tractor Pulls and also travelled throughout Tasmania, Phillip Island and Victoria with the *Guinness Show Band* in a promotion sponsored by the Guinness Brewery. More recently, Barry completed a two week tour at the Country Music Festival in Tamworth.
Currently, Barry plays in two bands, one of them being MTB, where he has the opportunity to play music he enjoys.
Barry plays Pearl Drums with Zildjian Cymbals.

TREVOR DALY - Bass Guitar Trevor began his musical journey at the age of 12, playing acoustic guitar. Not long after, he joined a school band at Mooroolbark Technical Colledge in Melbourne.

When Trevor moved to Bendigo in 1975, he played Bass in a number of cover & original bands, including Bogus Function, Pegasus and Rhubarb Juice. He relocated to Albury-Wodonga in 1982 and continued performing with the cover band Pursuit and Country Rock band Wild Whiskey.

Trevor moved to Mackay in North Queensland in 1992 and played in a variety of bands, most notably The Moonlighters, who also supported a string of touring acts including Red Symonds and Russell Gilbert, as well as Variety Club Functions with comedian and Blues Harp player “Steady Eddie”. During his 10 year stay in Mackay, Trevor performed with a host of other bands like, the Country Rock band Cool Change, Top 40 cover band Time Piece and the Night Owls, a Rock ‘n Roll group who supported Chubby Checker for his Mackay Performance.

In 1994, Trevor joined Slippery Sam, a Blues/Rock outfit, with whom he travelled extensively throughout North and Central Queensland. They were a regular act at Motor Bike Rallys, until the premature death of Brent “Sam” Williams, who succumbed to cancer in December 1997. From 1998 to 2002, Trevor played Bass with the Rock Band One Track Mind, performing throughout Queensland and supported touring acts Billy Thorpe & The Aztecs, Phil Emmanuel, Graeme Connors and Jimmy Barnes for his Mackay performance in the 1999 “Love and Hate” tour.

Trevor returned to Bendigo in November 2002 and joined Violet Protocol, who performed and recorded their own, original music. He also played with the Blues/Rock acts Cold Sweat, Salvador and Surrender Monkeys which occasionally featured Brod Smith and Mick O’Connor. Trevor was also a member of the Guinness Show Band, Party Feyva’s and Big Thing.
